I often speak to customers that have inherited jewellery from someone who they loved very dearly but that they don't wear the pieces because they aren't to their taste. Sadly the truth is, that jewellery becomes irrelevant more quickly than we like to admit.
What I always tell my customers is that jewellery should be worn and that you shouldn't feel guilty about changing it. Reworking a piece of jewellery still maintains the sentimentality of it - in fact it can increase and prolong it.
It is not a new concept to rework jewellery. Because of the enduring value of precious metals and gemstones and the sentimental aspect of it, the merit of reworking it to fit changing trends and personal tastes has always existed.
In general, we just don't have the same formal events that call for some of this type of adornment. We are more casual and want more every day items. Generally I find customers want more minimal, less intricate jewellery that they feel comfortable wearing.
Trends change and evolve and reworking jewellery has become even more prevalent in an era of sustainability.
I love helping customers achieve something with their heirloom jewellery that they will love and wear. Just get in touch via my bespoke page.

Before - a ring the customer never wore and a size far too big anyway.

After - the integral design elements of the original ring have been maintained but with a much more modern output.
